In March 2025 we visited Gresleydale Healthcare Centre.
We wanted to learn:
- What people thought about the service
- How easy it is for patients to book and access the services
- How well communication methods and digital tools are working
- How inclusive and accessible the environment is
- What could be improved
Key findings:
- Most people gave positive feedback about the care and staff at Gresleydale
- Staff spoke highly of their team and workplace environment
- The centre was found to be clean, welcoming and generally accessible
- Some confusion existed around signage, including the entrance and internal directions
- There was low awareness of lesser-known services and the nearby Ragsdale House site
- The biggest area of concern was phone wait times and lack of awareness of alternative booking methods like the NHS App or online services
- Some people didn’t know they could ask for reasonable adjustments, such as a quieter waiting space or longer appointments
- The Wi-Fi was hard to access and mobile signal was poor, making it difficult for people to use digital tools while on site
- The waiting area would benefit from resources like toys, magazines or more comfortable seating for people with different needs
What we suggested:
We made 23 recommendations to help the service continue to improve. These included:
- Adding clearer signage to help people find the correct entrance and facilities
- Making the website more accessible, including adding language options and simplifying information
- Promoting awareness of extended hours clinics at Ragsdale House and lesser-known services like teenage health and minor surgery
- Offering clearer information about reasonable adjustments and encouraging people to ask for them
- Improving access to and instructions for using the on-site Wi-Fi
- Bringing leaflets into the waiting area and adding resources for adults and children
