Community Engagement Volunteer

Our Community Engagement Volunteers’ help us to develop our projects and find out what local people think about health and care services they use. 

Key task might include: 

Volunteers can choose to be involved in some or all of the following:

  • Helping plan and deliver projects 
  • Helping us to plan and refresh our documents and other resources
  • Getting involved in volunteer engagement activities
  • Promote events and projects that we are planning, to local people
  • Encourage and support local people to speak out about their experiences of health and social care services
  • Help the staff team to gather views from local people by a variety of ways, including running focus groups, surveys and meetings
  • Be our 'eyes and ears' by bringing ideas and concerns from local people to our attention
  • Help to signpost people to information about health and social care services
  • Help with in analysing and interpreting information

Skills that might suit this role are: 

  • An understanding and interest in health and social care services
  • An interest in improving health and social care services
  • A good understanding of confidentiality 
  • Able to travel for meetings or be comfortable communicating by email and volunteering from home
  • Some experience of the use of questionnaires or other methods would be helpful

  • A full induction and training
  • On-going support from Healthwatch Derbyshire 
  • Regular updates from Healthwatch Derbyshire
  • Regular volunteer meetings
  • Opportunities to become involved in other things we may be doing
